If it's glamour and glitz and pretentious gourmet food you want please do not come to the Violet Town Café!
When long-time Violet Town residents David and Anne Smyth decided to take over the former Violet Town Milk Bar in March 2007, they saw potential. It was an opportunity to combine business with pleasure - and to fulfill a long-held dream.
Their dream was to work together to provide a friendly, welcoming café serving high quality, well presented food that would appeal to both local residents and travelers passing through the pretty little town.
Now - after extensive refurbishments (and a lot of hard work!) their vision is a reality and the Violet Town Café is attracting not only travelers who happen to be passing through - but people are detouring out of their way to enjoy David's Big Burgers and Anne's Home Made flour-less Rhubarb cake, amongst other delights.
Not to mention the coffee! David and Anne aim for nothing less than perfection in the art of coffee making. They use only freshly ground beans (including freshly ground decaffeinated) and would rather throw out a less-than-perfect cup than serve it.
They are refining and expanding their already extensive Dine In and Take Away Menus and endeavouring to keep prices reasonable.
Of course the Violet Town Café is not the only thing David and Anne have offered Violet Town.
Perhaps their greatest contribution has been to increase the population! With 3 fine sons and a beautiful daughter - all with spouses and partner, seven small grandchildren - you could say they have made a difference! Photos of their grandchildren are proudly displayed in the café.
