30 businesses completed the StreetLife Business survey and 19 businesses provided information through discussions with the StreetLife Coordinator.

A great deal of valuable information has been gathered about both the needs of individual businesses and also what people think will support and develop business activity in Violet Town. It is clear that there are a vibrant range of businesses operating across the arts, manufacturing, tourism, accommodation and food as well as importantly people businesses supporting the agricultural industry.

Although many of these businesses are local and regionally focused, there are also people out there working at the state, national and international level. And most certainly, not everything happens in Cowslip Street!

Cowslip Street, the town entrances and signage were high in people's minds in terms of making improvements that demonstrate the communities pride in the township and its vibrant businesses and community. Additionally, making sure businesses are able to promote themselves to their markets well was highlighted.

One approach for some businesses is to develop a better understanding of how to use the web and the establishment of a website. Darryl Parker will be helping us to develop the business directory on the website. This directory will also be available in hard copy.

A second approach supported by many was that businesses work together to understand the facilities and services they have on offer so they are better able to cross promote and create "packages" for visitors.

A significant request was for the development of a strong business network - this is certainly on the agenda.

A copy of the full report or the executive summary are available on the Violet Town website (http://www.violettown.org.au) or one can be emailed or posted to you. If you are a business and have not yet completed a survey, we are still interested in receiving them, as this will ensure you are identified in the business directory. Surveys can be picked up from the office or mailed to you (see contact details below).
