Computer Courses

Introduction to Microsoft Word – A four week course starting on the 1st March 2010 at 7pm at the VTCH. Each session runs for two hours and handouts are supplied. Cost $30.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel – A four week course starting on the 2nd March 2010 at 7pm at the VTCH. Each session runs for two hours and handouts are supplied. Cost $30.

Basic Computers – Every Tuesday from 1pm – 3pm. For all your basic computer skills. From how to turn the computer on to your own questions answered. Kind patient teachers. Cost $5 per session.

Youth

Youth Reference Group Monday 4pm – 5pm, resuming on the 8th March 2010 in the Youth and Arts Space. Come along and have input into different events and activities for youth of Violet Town. The group are currently working on a proposal to improve and update the Skate Park. All young people welcome to attend.

Youth Drop In Centre Mondays and Tuesdays 4pm – 6.30pm in the youth and art space. Come along play pool, x box and other games. Fully supervised. All young people welcome to attend.

Push Over Youth Music Event Sunday 14th March at the Abbotsford Convent. Bus leaves at 9am and returns at approximately 11pm. Fully Supervised, drug and alcohol music event. Four stages, great Australian Music. Hip Hop, Metal, Top 40 and Indie. Attendees must be 11 – 25 years old.

Bookings and payment must be made by the 5th February 2010 as tickets must be purchased in advance. Bands performing include 50 Lions. Dash and Will. Kisschasy, Lovers Grave, The Sundance Kids, Urthboy and much more.

Welfare Support: The Violet Town Community House with support of the Violet Town Uniting Church has available furniture, household items and food vouchers for those, in need. If you do need assistance please drop in to the centre and see Annette. This is a totally confidential and non judgmental service.

If you have any useful household items which are not appropriate for the op shops which you would like to donate please contact 03 5798 1288 or drop off during office hours.

Outreach Connections and Financial Counsellor Visiting Services. – Once a month the Salvation Army Outreach Connections worker and the Financial counsellor from GVCH Service visits the Violet Town Community House.

Networking Group – The next meeting will be at 7pm on 29 March in the Violet Town Community House Youth and Art Space. The purpose of this meeting is to share information, be aware of upcoming events, activities, resource sharing and to work on and be aware of fundraising opportunities and needs collectively.

This group began in 2009 and represents the sporting groups, community not for profit organizations, faith groups and community service groups. If you would like further information please contact the VTCH on 03 5798 1288.
