The number of sustainable houses being built in the Strathbogie area is increasing rapidly. Included in this are the many existing houses that have been substantially retrofitted with sustainable features.

Many of us have readily converted to a solar hot water system and perhaps increased the number of our water tanks but are not well informed about the range and benefits of other ways of building a new house or making our current house less dependent on grid electricity and much more efficient at keeping us warm in winter or cool in summer.

On Sunday September 12th, the Violet Town Ecoliving Project group has organised a tour of three Violet Town houses - two of these have been newly built with a wide range of sustainable features and one has been retrofitted. The Community Complex in Violet Town has also been retrofitted with many sustainable features.

The tour will meet at 10am at the Violet Town Community Complex and begin with a conducted tour of the retrofit. The group will then proceed by bus to the three houses for a conducted tour of each one, concluding at 2pm back at the Complex.

The Violet Town Ecoliving group is inviting members of the public to join them on this tour.

Participation is free with lunch provided, but it is essential to book by September 9th by calling Robin on 57981735 or Sue on 57982435.
