Violet Town residents and the environment

Bird species in Violet Town and surrounding district

For bird watchers, sightings of birds at a number of locations around the town have been recorded and are provided here. So far we have list of birds that have been recorded in the Bushland Reserve near Koonda, in Long Gully and on a property in Upotipotpon. Compare the lists of birds seen in these locations.

Violet Town re-establishes natural bushland

The Violet Town community is keen to re-establish the natural bushland in the town and environs. To accomplish this 'for the future' objective, three separate groups, with some overlapping of course, are organising working days every year.

One group is creating the Violet Town Community Forest, another is keen to recreate the natural bushland of the grey crowned babblers, a species of bird that is in danger of dyiing out through lack of habitat, and the third group [HREP] is replacing the native grasses and trees along the Honeysuckle Creek in the section within the town boundaries.

If you are keen to join any or each of the groups, check the 'Upcoming Events' column on our home page.
