Funding sources for our community

Every community needs money to start and complete projects beneficial to the residents of the community.

Fortunately there are a number of sources for funding, some from government at all levels, some from corporations and some from other private organisations.

Here is some info to help you source grants for your projects - Jodi Bjorksten.

State Government

Attached is a "Grants Matrix" [pdf file about 80 kb] that is located on the State Government's Department for Planning and Community Development website - www.dpcd.vic.gov.au or www.grants.dvc.vic.gov.au.

It contains a list of all DPCD grants and is a valuable resource when sourcing funding for a range of projects. It is updated regularly so is worth a regular check.

Federal Government

The Federal Government website - www.grantslink.gov.au is also worth a regular look as it is the central point for Federal Government funding and is also updated regularly.

There doesn't appear to be a matrix like on the State Government site but is relatively easy to navigate.

"Our Community"

You may also wish to take out a subscription to "Our Community" - www.ourcommunity.com.au. For $45 per annum, your community group can get a monthly email newsletter which provides information on hundreds of grants, both government and philanthropic.

The website says:

"Our Community is a world-leading social enterprise that provides advice and tools for Australia's 700,000 community groups and schools, and practical linkages between the community sector and the general public, business and government.

Our major offerings include:
