They've finally arrived
The new sign featuring a design by.
After a long wait and much deliberation, Violet Town now has new signs at the entrances to town.
The signs they replaced have seen good service but unfortunately in the last few years have suffered damage from too much sun, especially the sign on the Western entrance and even falling branches [The ‘Town of Flowers’ signs are starting to look untidy and faded after more than 12 years ... 6 August 2010].

A competition to find a new design was run during 2010 and many great ideas and designs were submitted. However the offer by Michael Leunig was too good to refuse - the design matured over time with the signwriter completing the signs on Wednesday.
On the eve of Australia Day Howard Myers and Michael McGlaughlin with the aid of 'cherry picker', fitted the signs to the frames.
