Violet Town has a small community of 950 people [2006 ABS Census] near the Strathbogie Ranges in North East Victoria.
Located in the Strathbogie Shire, Violet Town is a diverse rural community which features many groups, community organisations, sporting clubs and facilities as well as a great deal of community spirit. It's a community that gets things done!
There is a monthly market, a community newspaper, an online page of news and stories, arts and musical activities, sporting clubs, churches, community health service, a community house, the Bush Nursing Centre, a primary school, support programs, community organisations, social groups, an Action Group, accommodation and restaurants.

VTAG organised a second Community Opportunity Workshop in 2007 with two main themes for those attending: Identifying some really good things about our town and district; and Some improvements we would like to see in our town and district.
76 suggestions resulted and the top five priorities were selected and a large number of people then indicated their commitment to further work on chosen priorities. Following the Community Opportunity Workshop the organising committee sorted the priorities into 10 themes.
The on-going effective operation of the working groups formed to bring the Community Plan into action will be crucial to success and will depend on good communication and participation to maintain momentum to bring benefits to the community. Find out more about Violet Town Action Group.
