On Wednesday 8 July 2009 Riverine Plains Inc, National Australia Bank (NAB) Agribusiness and RSM Bird Cameron will hold a seminar Business decisions in tough times. The seminar will be held at Corowa RSL Club from 9.00am to 3.30pm with registrations starting at 8.30am.

Grains Outlook for 2009 ... feast or famine will be the topic for the keynote speaker Mr Richard Koch, Managing Director of ProFarmer. Richard is one of Australia's leading agricultural market analysts with 15 years experience across various commodity markets and in a range of sectors servicing these markets.

RSM Bird Cameron and NAB agribusiness will present a case study on Tough decisions in tough times. The case study centres around a typical farming family who are facing decisions regarding the family business. Issues such as intergenerational succession, asset ownership, business structures, finance and debt issues, opportunities for acquisition of additional farming assets are just some of the topics to be covered. This case study is designed to focus discussion on issues and provide options and methodology to address those issues.

Mr Gerard O'Brien, Director of RSM Bird Cameron will speak on the template for making tough decisions in tough times. This session will be about providing a template (to follow on from the case study) that people can use to help work through issues that a review of a farming businesses operations and structure would possibly uncover. Participants could then in turn take this into their professional advisors and use it as the basis for succession and/or business planning.

Ben Westmore, Economist at NAB Agribusiness will provide an update on the State of the Economy.

Pre-registration by 6 July is important for catering purposes. Registration fee $35 (payable on the day) includes catering. Riverine Plains Members $25.

A copy of the flier, which includes the registration form is attached. Note: a hard copy will be posted to you with the newsletter later in the week.
