New standpipe for Euroa and Violet Town
Strathbogie Shire Council would like to advise that a new standpipe will be operational tomorrow afternoon in Euroa. It is located approximately 20 metres from the corner of Gobur St and Barnes St opposite the end of Racecourse Road.
Council currently has two established standpipes in McKindley's Lane, Arcadia and at the Regatta Centre in Nagambie. To reduce travel costs and the inconvenience of travelling a long distance Council has worked with Goulburn Valley Water for the establishment of two new standpipes; one in Euroa and one in Violet Town.
The water is intended for stock and domestic purposes. It is NOT intended for drinking water. Domestic includes purposes around the house such as toilet flushing water.
Water is free; there will be unfettered access from now to 2 January 2007.
From Tuesday 2 January 2007 users will have to collect a key from the Shire Offices to access the standpipe valve. The situation will be reviewed if there is abuse of the standpipe.
Council would like to extend its thanks to Goulburn Valley Water whose board approved the establishment of the standpipes for stock and domestic purposes.
The Violet Town standpipe should be installed by Wed pm. The same conditions of use will apply.
