Some exciting and interesting things have been arranged for Violet Town over the next few weeks (and months).
Carpet Bowls, Line Dancing, Youth Jam: Mondays this year sees the return of Carpet Bowls at 7.30pm in the hall, Wednesdays Line Dancing in the Supper Room and Sundays at 2pm Youth Jam in the Youth Space.
The Women's Group: The Women's Group (previously known as Journeys) will be meeting on Tuesday's from 10am - 1pm. This group is a relaxed, social group which focuses on learning and activities as well as compaionship. The Women's Group meets week and every second week will host either a guest chef or speaker. The group is very welcoming, for more information please contact the community house on 5798 1288.
The Upotipotpon Book Club: The Upotipotpon Book Club is still looking for some new members. Meeting on the fourth Monday of the month at 7.30pm at different homes in the community. Everyone is welcome to join, come along discuss some great books and even enjoy a nice wine.
Stone Walls: A Course in laying Stone Walls and creating other features of stone will be held in late March and Early April at the Skills Shed in Baird Street in Violet Town. Facilitated by Tony Rhodes this day long workshop will teach participants Dry and Wet techniques. Please contact 5798 1288 for more information.
Swimming Squad: Robbie Swim and Swimming Squad are making a great splash at the Violet Town Pool. If you are interested in joining please call 57981361.
Motor Mechanics for Women Motor Mechanics for Women will be starting soon at the Skills Shed. If you are interested put your name down on 57981288.

The Benchmark Project: The Benchmark Project is beginning to build momentum. Funded by the Shire of Strathbogie, The Violet Town Op Shop and managed b the Community House, this project will see the renovation (including installation of arms) to all benches in the main street of Violet Town if you wish to be involved please call 57981288.
Digital Stories Workshops: Digital Stories Workshops coming up in Violet Town. The Community House with the support of the 15/15 Film Festival and funded by VIC HEALTH will be offering Digital Stories workshops in the not to distant future. These workshops will give participants the skills to collect Video and Audio stories and histories within the community. If you are interested in taking part please contact 57981288.
15/15 Film Festival: Speaking of the 15/15 Film Festival. The next one is fast approaching. Shooting day will be the 12th March and you can pick up and return your films in Violet Town. The 15/15 is a Short Film Festival - Anyone can enter. You have 15 hours to make a short film of no more than 15 minutes in length. All films must contain an object and a quote and they need to be picked up on the shooting day. Register your interest at 57981288 or online at the www.15/15filmfestival.com.au There is equipment available for use if required but this must be arranged prior to the shooting day.
Stick Horse Day: The Community House is currently organizing the next Stick Horse Day for late March. If you wish to be involved please call 57981288.
Youth Week 2006: To celebrate Youth Week 2006 Violet Town will be hosting a live music/performance event called Wildthingz over the next school holidays there will be Circus, Drama and Music Workshops which will prepare the acts for the day. The Event itself will feature skate and BMX demos, Graffiti Wall and Live Music from some new young local bands. Everyone is welcome to join in and help out please call 57981288 to express interest.
The Bloomin Arts AGM: The Bloomin Arts AGM was held recently and a new committee was elected. They are: Sandy Garrett, Chris Coles, Helen Keighery, Janet Allen, Annette Walton, Andie Guerin and Robena Binks. Bloomin Arts is currently organizing an brainstorming event for the end of March, more information will be provided when available.
