Twenty local young people from Violet Town and district will be heading to Melbourne on the 4th – 5th August to record a CD at Studio 52 as a part of Kool Skools a NSW and Victorian Government funding arts initiative.
The young people in the group range in age from 11 – 19 and have written all the music which will be recorded over the past twelve months. The songs reflect different styles of music and different issues which affect the young people in their day to day lives.
Over the past few months the young people in the program have been attempting to fund raise to cover expenses for the trip. They still have to fundraise a little bit more but wish to thank the community who have donated money, the Violet Town Lions Club, VTAG, YACCAS, the Day and Lobert Families, Tony Rhodes Stonemason, Violet Town Coffee Shop, Parish Perfumery and Hand Picked Plants for their support.
There will be one final fundraiser next Sunday the 30th July from 7pm at Parish Perfumery in Primrose St, Violet Town. The evening includes a two course meal, live music and a selection of short films made in Violet Town over the past ten years. The cost will be $10 an adult $5 a child and $30 a family. Tickets are available from the Violet Town Community House and the Violet Town Coffee Shop. Bookings are essential and must be made by close of business on the 27th July for catering purposes. There will also be an auction and a raffle on the night.
So please come along enjoy some local short films – hear some great music – enjoy a fine meal and support an amazing youth music program. For more information please contact 03 5798 1288 or 0417 166 824
