Community House Program

The Violet Town Community House has its next program ready to go and all homes in Violet Town and District will be receiving their program next week. If you would like a copy please contact the community house.

Seniors Trips

On the second Tuesday of every month the Senior Citizens Group heads over to the Shepparton RSL to have lunch and watch a show. New members are most welcome. Contact Val Russell for more information on 5798 1232. Costs: $15 to $16 (includes two course meal, show and bus)

History Bus Tuesday 17 October

We would like to invite older members of our community to come and enjoy the bus trip around the district to share their stories and memories of their lives and community. Two young film makers will be accompanying us on this journey and will be making a short documentary of the trip. The film will then be screened to the community at a later date. The bus will depart the Community House at 10.30am – 1pm. A cut lunch will be provided. Bookings are essential and more information is available by contacting 5798 1288. No charge.

Spring Music Fiesta

Sat 7 October, Violet Town Memorial Hall An afternoon of music, workshops and community. 10am workshops in Bush Dancing and Traditional Folk Music. 12pm Music Celtic, Funk, Reggae, Bush Dancing, Blue Grass, Soul, Funk, Originals, Alternate and Rock. Workshops are available in Bush Dancing and Traditional Folk Music for adults and children as well as children’s art and craft workshops. (All workshops and activities free – bookings essential)

Cost Adults - $12, Concession - $10 Children - $7 (over 13) Family $30. Tickets can be purchased from the Violet Town Coffee Shop or Community House Office.

Skilled Volunteers wanted

We desparately need some skilled volunteers to help us finish off the works. As well as skilled tutors in tool maintenance and motor mechanics. If you can help us out please call Annette on 5798 1288. It would be really appreciated.

Youth Reference Group

The Youth Reference Group will be now meeting every Monday at 4.30pm – 5.30pm. If you are aged between 11 and 18 you are most welcome to come along and have a say in the events, activities and other issues facing youth in Violet Town.

Working Bees and Activities

Every weekend at the Skills Shed between 11am and 3pm, there are members of the community working on projects and the building. If you would like to drop in at anytime you will be most welcome to help out.

Children’s Art and Craft Classes

Starting on the 16 October at 4.30 – 6pm various tutors and differing activities including jewellery making, mono prints, lantern making and painting / drawing and sculpture. Cost $36 for the six week course. Register by 10 October. The course is number dependent. To be held at the Youth Space and Skills Shed.

Freeza Gig

Euroa Showgrounds 15 September 7pm – 11pm. Drug and alcohol free. No Pass Outs. Cost $8, free bus from Violet Town at 6pm and returning at 11.30pm Bookings essential on 5798 1288.

Werribee Zoo Trip

Visit the Open Plains Zoo at Werribee on Monday 18 September. The bus leaves at 8 am and returns at approximately 7pm. Bookings essential by 14 September. Cost $25 per person. BYO lunch money

Special FX Make-Up

Learn the Art of SFX Makeup. Make severed limbs and learn how to do other tricks you see in the movies. Tuesday 19 September at the Skills Shed from 1 – 4pm. BYO hair dryer if you have one. Cost $5 per person bookings essential by the 15 September.

Games Zone

20 September 11am – 3pm and Tuesday 26 September 10am – 2pm. Come along and play Xbox games on the big screen, computer games, watch videos and hang out. Cost gold coin donation.

Scrapping

22 September from 10am – 4pm Learn the art of Scrapping in this day-long workshop. BYO Scrapping equipment. Cost $10 Bookings essential by the 15 September - number dependent.

Benchmark Project

Saturday 23 September 10am – 2pm and Monday 25th Sept and Tuesday 26th 10am – 12pm. Come along and create your own magical, beautiful bench as apart of the Benchmark Project. Everyone welcome.

Youth Jam

Sunday 24 September. Rehearsal for the CD Launch. 2pm at the youth space.

Bohogie Music Sessions

Do you love Music? Have you checked out the Bohogie Music Sessions at the Boho hall yet? Every Friday night from 7pm. Starting with younger musicians and moving on to older and more professional musicians from about 8pm. Every week has a different flavor but always there is a great variety of fantastic music for all tastes.

Shepparton Bowling and Movie Trip

Monday 25 September Cost $20 bookings and payment required by the 15 September. Bus departs at 2pm and returns at 8pm.

Performance Workshop

Tuesday 26 September from 11 – 1pm. Learn performance techniques and other great tips for both acting and musical performance. Cost $4 bookings and payment essential by the 15 September.
