Presentation of Final Violet Town Flood Study Stage 2 Report

As reported in the last edition of "the Voice", the final report of the Violet Town Flood Study - Stage 2 is in the final stages of preparation. The Community Reference Committee has reviewed the final draft, and their comments are being fed back to the Council and the Consultants for consideration, and appropriate amendments will be made.

The community representatives on the Community Reference Committee are: Tom Crocker; Reg Davis; Neil Garrett; Howard Myers

The purpose of this stage of the overall Flood Study Project is to develop an electronic flood model that represents the movement of flood waters through the township.

The final report will be presented to a public meeting in Violet Town, in the Community Hall by the consultant, Water Technology.

The date of the meeting: Thursday 17 May 2007 at 7.30pm.

The purpose of next stage of the flood study, Stage 3, is to develop effective options for reducing the impact of flooding on the township. This next stage will require the formation of a Community Consultative Committee to develop and consider the various options. The application for funding of Stage 3 has been submitted to the Federal Government, with the results of the application expected late this year, 2007.
