Approximately 80 industry staff, owners and managers from the north east thoroughbred industry enjoyed an informative presentation on horse nutrition during drought conditions by Dr Peter Huntington last night at Hayguns in Euroa.

Dr Huntington, highly regarded in the industry, addressed feed types, common ailments and feeding regimes and provided some guidance in the midst of these trying times.

Manager of Executive Projects at Strathbogie Shire Council, Sally Macdonald said, "Council received funding by Regional Development Victoria to host the event as a drought initiative.

The evening was a great opportunity to bring key industry representatives together to arm them with the latest drought feeding information while relaxing with their peers over dinner and drinks in an informal environment. The evening also provided an opportunity for newly appointed Equine Industry Cluster Coordinator, Glenn Barry to meet with local people from the industry."

Glenn Barry is known to many in the industry as a breeder and has been working with Country racing Victoria for some time. Glenn officially starts on Monday 19 February 2007 and is looking forward to the challenges ahead.

The function partners for the event were Strathbogie Shire Council, Mitchell Council, Regional Development Victoria, NETBV/ NETIA, National Centre for Equine Education and Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE.
