The Violet Town StreetLife project is set to begin with the appointment of Christine Nunn as Co-ordinator and the opening of the StreetLife Office at 41 Cowslip Street on Wednesday 28 February.

"It has been some time since the Violet Town Action Group (VTAG), in partnership with Strathbogie Shire Council, was successful in attracting Victorian State Government StreetLife funding and we are excited that we can now get underway the business development and business promotion initiatives that the community will plan and implement with the assistance of Christine over the next nine months." Howard Myers, chairperson of the Violet Town Action Group, said.

"Christine will work with existing Violet Town based businesses, those that are familiar to people in shop-fronts as well as home-based and Violet Town Market businesses. One of her first tasks is to survey all these businesses so that we can develop a register and more importantly to make sure all small businesses have an opportunity to contribute to and benefit from marketing and promotional activities and to identify other business development needs that we can address" Pat Glynn, chairperson of the StreetLife Committee as the VTAG delegate said. Pat is also co-proprietor of the local hardware store. "After this the StreetLife Committee and Christine will be able to identify the business development seminars which will be run to meet identified needs and the priorities for the promotion of Violet Town and its businesses." Pat said.

The StreetLife Committee members are Pat Glynn, Jo Beavis and Neil Garrett representing the Violet Town community and Sally MacDonald, Manager Executive Projects, from Strathbogie Shire Council.

Christine has experience working with communities, developing social enterprises, undertaking feasibility studies and business plans for small business and community organisations and working with organisations to determine their strategic plan. She is also a small business owner, operates a small irrigation property and is a Violet Town Market stall holder with her husband Ron. "This StreetLife project offers the opportunity for me to work locally and to facilitate creative and practical responses to the needs Violet Town businesses. We have a really vibrant community, accessible location and many assets which can be used to promote the area and grow our businesses" Christine said.
