Friday night games at the pool
The Friday night games, the brain child and organised by Robbie Rae, start on Friday, 19 January from 6.00pm - 8.00pm. The round this Friday is between Community Health and the Violet Town Football and Netball Club.
There should be plenty of keen competition as the teams are at present warming up for their big night.
Four weeks of games
There will be four weeks of heats, two semi-finals and a Grand Final. Local groups and clubs have been targeted and each night will have a theme.
Teams have already been targetted for Week 1, which is the play off between Community Health and VT Football Netball Club. The theme for the first night is Italian and one may say the 'Italian Stallions' ... maybe! It is rumoured however that the 'Italian Stallions' are nurturing their moustaches as we speak.
There will be 'pizza' tossing, dumb waiters races and other novelty events. We don't want to give too much away so you will need to be there to find out what else is happening.
Week 2 is the CFA versus Lions Club, hope the fires are nearly out with a Pirate theme. Draw Your Swords, Man Overboard and Tiresome Treasure Hunt are some of the games that feature on this night. The 'world famous' Harris Cup will also be run after the games.
Week 3 and Week 4 will be the VT Cup, a day at the races and Going Troppo, a tropical theme. Then there's the semi final the next two weeks and culminating in the Grand Final on 2 March. We plan to run the Honeysuckle Cup (a children's version of the Harris Cup) after school re-commences on 16 February.
Each team will comprise two adults and two children 12 years old or under so we hope to have some father and son/daughter, mother and son/daughter teams.
The teams need support
The teams need support so we need lots of spectators, in green or yellow to cheer them on. It will be fun to watch and maybe some of the crowd will be selected to be involved.
There will be an inexpensive sausage sizzle and refreshments available at the kiosk.
