Community and Economic Development Workshop
MAV (Municipal Association of Victoria) organised a workshop for regional development organisations, tourism development groups, area consultative committees, business enterprise centres and other similar community focused groups.
Three invited practitioners presented an overview of their speciality starting with:
- Mike Stolte, Executive Director, Centre for Innovative and Entrepreneurial Leadership. President, Canadian Rural Vitalisation Foundation, British Columbia, Canada and followed by; Presentation
- Clare Wasteneys, Program Lead, Community Economic Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ontario, Canada and finally; Presentation
- Peter Kenyon, Director, Bank of I.D.E.A.S. (Initiatives for the Development of Enterprising Actions and Strategies), Kalamunda, Western Australia. Presentation
In the afternoon, each presenter held a workshop where the subject of their presentation was explained in a more detailed and hands on way. Unfortunately it was not possible to attend all three, only two were possible, however Robyn Machin and Kay Tait, also attending two workshops, allowed for exposure to all three.
While all were interesting and obviously useful the Community Exchange program seemed to provide an easy and inexpensive means of assessing the 1st impressions that visitors to Violet Town might experience and is thus recommended.
I wish to thank VTAG for providing the opportunity to attend the workshop.
