Speed Trailer in Strathbogie Towns
Strathbogie Shire Council currently has a Vicroads "speed trailer" on loan. The trailer is being moved around the shire by Strathcon, and will be placed in the vicinity of a number of schools for a few days at a time. We have the trailer for one month this time around. The trailer determines, and indicates for all to see, a vehicle's travel speed.
The trailer will be used in Euroa initially, and then will be moved through a number of locations. The focus this time is going to be on the road network around schools. As people know, the speed limit around schools is either 40kph full time, or is 40kph time-based.
Strathbogie Shire Council's, Director Asset Services, David Westphalen said, "Council's Road Safety Strategy, developed after community consultation, has identified travel speed as a "high" risk for the Community. This trailer is part of the implementation of the Strategy, particularly the education element. The Vicroads speed trailer is constantly on loan to municipalities throughout the North East as part of the Vicroads commitment to improved road safety. We will be working to obtain it again as soon as we can as a tool to improve our community's road safety.
Copies of the Road Safety Strategy will be available shortly at the Council Office in Euroa, in the various libraries, and on the Council's webpage.
