The VicHealth Communities Together Scheme promotes positive mental health by supporting the development of Community Festivals and Celebrations which bring the community together and provide new opportunities for community members to get involved in planning and staging community events (civic engagement) and participate in affordable and enjoyable community activities (social participation).
Grants of up to $10,000 are available to not-for-profit community organisations in Victoria.
Priority is given to community festivals and celebrations which:
- are accessible to and engage groups disadvantaged by social, economic, cultural or geographic circumstances
- are inclusive and value diversity
- implement a ‘bottom up’ approach to planning and project management
- actively engage a broad cross section of community members in planning and implementing activities
- demonstrate community partnerships
- build on current community strengthening initiatives
