Look up and admire the Flag
This week from Monday 14th May - Sunday 20th May, Australia thanks all those who volunteer their time to make their community a better place.
For the second year running the Volunteer Flag with a distinctive "V" will be flying all week on the flagpole in Binney Street.
Strathbogie Shire Council would like to thank all their volunteers. Whether you've delivered meals on wheels, driven people to medical appointments, attended swimming, driven the men's group to activities or pitched in with the luncheons and helped to prepare and serve meals we want to say a big thank you.
Other people are part of Rotary, Lions, CWA, VFA, SES, Community Committees, Senior Groups, Train Station volunteers, event organizers, people who take others shopping, prepare newspapers for the Vision impaired or are part of "Friends" groups.
There is an enormous amount of volunteering being done everyday within our Shire - much of it invisible and without any fan fare at all. We say thanks and recognize your efforts during this week.
If you are interested in volunteering with the Shire for Meals on Wheels, Community Driving or Planned Activities please contact 03 5795 2555 and speak to Mary Bourke, Strathbogie Shire Councils Volunteer Coordinator.
Strathbogie Shire Council holds events each year to thank those who volunteer in our programs and our next appreciation morning will occur in July. Invitations will be sent out in June.
