Violet Town presents Community Plan to Council
After six months of development, the Violet Town and District Community Plan was presented to Mayor Greg Carlson on Tuesday 28 August 2007.

The purpose of presenting the plan was to enable discussions with Strathbogie Shire Council about the implementation of the Violet Town and District Community Plan to commence.
The vision and purpose, background and process of development, key themes, priorities, commitment to work together were explained and emphasised.
The vision and purpose of the Community Plan is:
- Enhance the Violet Town community as a wonderful place for people to live
- Improve the co-operation between people and groups within Violet Town
- Embrace diversity of opinion
- Promote the development of the initiatives into action
Work on a number of the action items has commenced including the preparation of a marketing and promotion plan, which has as its vision that Violet Town and the surrounding district be recognised as a:
- place to live;
- place to establish and grow a business; and
- visitor destination.
The plan has the following goals:
- to attract 10 additional residents to Violet Town by 2010 (i.e. not turnover as a result of people leaving etc);
- to increase the number of businesses in Violet Town by 5% (ie 1-2 per year) by 2010; and
- to increase the number of visitors to Violet Town and district by 5% per annum by 2010.
The summary of the plan, presented by David Arnold, was well received by councillors.
