Freeway Service Centre for Euroa

In December of 2004 Strathbogie Shire Council received an application from Jilip Eleven Pty Ltd to construct a Freeway Service Centre on the Hume Highway outside of Euroa.
Strathbogie Shire Council advises that work on the Euroa Freeway Service Centre will commence the second week in September.
The developer, Jilip Eleven Pty Ltd has received approval on the freeway access agreement from VicRoads which was the last impediment before the development could proceed.
A planning permit was not required for the use of a Freeway Service Centre on this parcel of land. It is an outright "as of right" use.
Mayor of Strathbogie Shire Council, Gregory Carlson said, "Council welcomes the proposed development. Where possible it will be utilizing local employment through its sub-contractors and will be creating jobs for local people. There will also be an opportunity for local catering providers to tender for residency."
The development will house four food outlets, a convenience store associated with the petrol outlet, a visitor information area, a truck driver's rest area and an area set aside for no works to be carried out for the yabby habitat.
Pellicano Group joint chairman, Mr. Frank Pellicano said he was delighted construction of the Service Centre will commence in September following a period of design development which has drawn on the Pellicano Group's extensive experience in the design and construction of service stations and freeway service centres.
Mr. Pellicano said the design phase had been undertaken in close consultation with Council, VicRoads and other relevant authorities. "Following a very careful design development phase which has focused on achieving a design outcome complimentary to the surrounding landscape, I'm very pleased that we are about to commence construction of the Service Centre." He went on to say that "the Pellicano Group is particularly pleased as the Service Centre will create employment opportunities for the local community not only during construction but more significantly, in the ongoing operation and maintenance of the facility."
Jilip Eleven Pty Ltd in-conjunction with Strathbogie Shire Council will be conducting an information session on Tuesday 2nd September 2008 at 6pm at the Euroa Community Conference Centre.
