Howard Myers elected Mayor of Strathbogie Shire Council
The newly elected Strathbogie Shire Councillors yesterday elected Violet Town resident, Councillor Howard Myers, Mayor and Councillor Debra Swan, representing the Lake Nagambie Ward, Deputy Mayor of Strathbogie Shire.
Howard Myers has been a resident of Violet Town for the past 11 years and is a person dedicated to the welfare and well-being of the Violet Town community.
He is a founding member of Violet Town Action Group and for the last few years he has been the active Chairman initiating and overseeing numerous projects to the betterment of the town.
His involvement on the Honeysuckle Recreational Environment Group has been from the initial stages of applying for grant monies to planning and implementing the management plan. He is an integral leader and worker at the many working bees, setting aside time later to follow up with watering and weeding.
Howard was also involved in the initial planning stage of the Community Wood Lot and has been a major player in the implementation of this project.
He is the Captain of the Violet Town Country Fire Authority and a keen worker for and driving force behind, the Violet Town Community Market - Howard can be seen at each and every Community Market setting up, collecting money and packing up at the end.
All his work for the community is on a volunteer basis, with Howard giving up many hours of his time.
