Standpipe now open

The recently constructed bore in Turnbull Street, Euroa is now ready to supply the community with a free supply of water for stock use.

With financial input from the Government through a Drought Relief Grant, with regional administration by Goulburn-Murray Water and further funding and construction by Strathbogie Shire Council, this facility is now open as a Council service to Euroa and surrounding communities.

Following a number of very dry seasons, Councillor Mick Williams said that commissioning of this facility will provide Euroa and district with an important alternative supply of water for stock and other emergencies such as fire, etc.

"Whilst the quality of the bore water is good, the water is not fit for drinking or other human consumption but was an ideal source of water for all types of stock if required during periods of dry climatic conditions," Councillor Williams said.

Council has overcome many obstacles in completing this facility and would now turn its attention to investigating use of the bore as a means of irrigating as many of the nearby parks and sporting venues as possible.

Last Friday, Euroa Contractors, Savilles Plumbing made final adjustments.
