With breakfast on the Community Centre lawn, starting at 7:30 am a large crowd arrived to participate in the celebration of Australia Day in Violet Town.

A Street Parade to Celebrate our Violet Town in 2008
Arts Violet Town heralds a street parade for Violet Town to be held on Sunday 13 April and commencing at 2 pm. This fun event will include free entertainment, possibly a magician or circus performer, plus interactive entertainment.
The parade involving most groups and organisations of Violet Town will be followed by a BBQ fundraiser for Community House and a Bush Dance run by Community House. more ...

Thanks to the hard work of Trevor Northey, Howard Myers, Lindsay Jennings, Neil Garrett, Andie Guerin, Karen Robbins, Mark Handley and Jack Smythe, the internal renovations at the Community House are coming together nicely.
There is now an interview room/private space and internal hall way. The next step for the rooms is painting and flooring. The works on the new store room, kitchenette and Youth and Art Space will begin on the 20th January. Moretto Builders of Shepparton have been appointed the project. more ...
Violet Town to create an Eco Living Centre
A grant of $300,000 has been awarded to the Violet Town Action Group to establish an Eco Living Centre in Violet Town, as one of seven successful applicants for funding across the state under the Our Environment Our Future, Sustainability Action Statement 2006 initiative.
Minister for the Environment and Climate Change Gavin Jennings said "Eco Living Centres will help Victorian communities take action to live more sustainably and be a local hub for sustainability activities. Each Eco Living Centre will demonstrate sustainable ways to save water and energy in the home, as well as reducing waste and improving biodiversity." more ...
First time sheep dog trials held in Violet Town

A three day test of man and dog teams involving competitors from all over Victoria and local sheep was completed on Sunday 12 December.
With more than 30 competitors and 220 runs, it has been a full-on weekend competition for the organisers and the competitors. more ...
Celebrating 50 Splashing Years
More than 100 people gathered at Violet Town's Community Hall to celebrate the swimming pool's 50 years.
The excellent celebratory dinner, held fifty years and one day after the official opening of the Violet Town swimming pool in 1957, was organised by the 'Friends of the Pool' and was an occasion of re-newing old friendships, reliving experiences and in particular studying the photographic images recording the construction of the pool. more ...
Grants available to preserve war memorials
Local ex-service organisations, councils, schools and community groups can apply for grants of up to $10,000 to preserve, restore and enhance local war memorials and honor rolls.
