Violet Town Action Group (VTAG) and Violet Town Business Network representatives Howard Myers and Pat Glynn, welcomed the market crowd to the launch of a number of projects that have been funded by:
- Regional Development, Victoria
- Streetlife Program
- Buy Local Program
- Strathbogie Shire Council and
- Violet Town Action Group
"The project has involved many members of the community over the past eighteen months including:
- members of the Business Network;
- members of the community that have provided feed back on what they saw as Violet Town and District in the form of survey that was used to build our new graphics and;
- other community members that have participated in the working groups."
"So we are here firstly to show you our new Town and District logo. It is a stylised violet." said VTAG Chairman Howard Myers
"There are also banners which can be used in a number of ways.
Some examples of possible use were displayed in the tent with a practical example at Violet Town Hairdressing in Cowslip St."
"We are hoping all businesses and community organisations will embrace this marketing initiative by incorporating the logo and banner in the promotion of their organisations." said Howard Myers
"We are also presenting to the community today, the Violet Town and District Community Plan. This again is a project that has involved so many people from the community. Thank you to all that have participated and in particular Tim Mahar, David Arnold, Bruce Cummings and Christine Nunn." said Howard Myers
The Business Network Group has also been working to improve the main street and Pat Glynn is here to launch the Business Directory."
"As a member of the Business Network Group I am here to launch the Violet Town Business Directory." said Pat Glynn
"Some 107 businesses indicated they wanted to promote their business through the hard-copy version of the directory. A digital version will also be available on the Violet Town website." concluded Pat Glynn
After a year of work the Marketing and Promotions Sub-Committee now has a series of graphic images that can be used on promotional publications, shop-fronts, signage and stationery. This new branding for Violet Town and District will be launched at the July Community Market.
During 2007 the Committee undertook a survey of residents, businesses and visitors. The responses we received helped us to gather our thoughts and create a community brand that suits our town and district.
We were very fortunate that over 125 community members responded to the surveys and participated in discussions that lead to the engagement of a graphic designer, Richard Telford.
The Violet Town and District community is a forward thinking one. We have the attractiveness of being known as a warm and friendly community that is prepared to work together to get things done, we have energy and diversity. This is what makes us a community of choice for many. We trust that the new branding will reinforce this into the future.
The Violet Town and District brand has been developed so that it can be used community-wide. The different versions of both the logo and banners will be available on the Violet Town Website with a guide to how they are most effectively used alongside existing stationary and marketing materials. This will help all businesses and not for profit and community organisations to access and use them easily.
