Nagambie development close to a reality

On Tuesday 1 July, Strathbogie Shire Council passed a resolution to adopt Amendment C36 to the Strathbogie Planning Scheme subject to the changes outlined in the Panel Report with one exception being, the road behind the 30 dwellings between the commercial centre and beach should be relocated so that there is a direct interface between the easement and the road.
The Panel hearing was conducted over three days on 9 - 11 April, 2008. Comprehensive written submissions were tabled at the Hearing, and the Panel conducted inspections of the site and surrounds before and after the directions hearing and during the full hearing.
The large scale development by the Lockland Group involves rezoning a 47.36 hectare site on the southern side of Lake Nagambie to the Comprehensive Development Zone (CDZ) to facilitate a resort-style development comprising approximately 376 dwellings, a 100 unit hotel, conference centre, restaurants and a chapel in a landscape setting.
Gregory Carlson, "In the last five years all the discussion has been about pedestrian or bicycle access around the lake."
Strathbogie Shire Council has to submit the Amendment C36 to the Minister for Planning for approval.
