Garden Club flower show makes its mark

Renewed interest saw the re-emergence of the Garden Club flower show at the Violet Town Community Centre, but a show with a changed format.

Head Steward, Barbara Ramage said "This year we have enhanced the show with the inclusion of crafts and photographs." The change meant that more people became exhibitors and brought visitors from out of town to view the flowers on show.

A tasty 'Sausage Sizzle' greeted visitors, afternoon tea was available during the afternoon with raffles and produce for sale all to make the show very attractive.

Twelve classes were available to exhibitors and the condition of entry was that all exhibits must be grown by the exhibitor.

classes included irises, roses, cut flowers, Australian flora in flower, vegetable and fruit, floral art, needlework and craft, photography and classes for children in two age groups.

Flower show judges this year included Jean Miles, June Chanter, Jan Gough, Jacci Campbell and Peter Ward, the latter judging the photographic entries.
