In November, 2008 the Rudd Labor Government announced a $300 million program to build local community infrastructure in all of Australia's 565 local council areas to boost local economic development and support jobs in communities around the country.

The program is considered to be an initial down-payment on the Government's plans to meet urgent needs in communities and create long-term infrastructure. Funding will be delivered under the program by 30 June 2009 to ensure the stimulatory effects of this package are delivered to local economies as quickly as possible.

In Strathbogie Shire the following projects were nominated to the federal government on January 2009.

Shire-wide

Mayor of Strathbogie Shire Council, Howard Myers said, "Council has taken the opportunity with the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program package to nominate projects that will improve the safety and amenity of community facilities through out the Strathbogie Shire. Council is still awaiting advice from the Federal government as to whether Council's proposed projects have been approved."

* Water Tanks will be installed at 15 Halls and Reserves throughout the Shire and will be fitted with CFA couplings where ever possible.
