Relocation of Emergency Services Euroa

Strathbogie Shire Council will begin the process of relocating the SES to the block adjacent to CFA's Greenfield site in Clifton Street, Euroa.
Over the last three years, Strathbogie Shire council has tried to progress the joint/co-location of an emergency services precinct with the SES, CFA, Ambulance, Police and Red Cross all at one site.
Council has received advice from the Minister for Emergency Services, Bob Cameron that it is in support of Council exploring co-location with the State Emergency Services (SES) and Country Fire Authority (CFA). Other agencies whilst supportive of the concept would not for differing reasons co-locate at this time.
The former Council's preferred position was to consider the Wesley Hall site for conversion for the SES, but this has proven to not be practical. An alternative was to consider the purchase of the CFA site in McGuinness Street and refurbish and extend the existing building.
Councillor Mick Williams said, "Council has discussed purchase of a block adjacent to the proposed CFA Greenfield site - opposite the Caltex Service Station in Clifton Street - with a view to sharing common facilities and exploring any grant opportunities for building engine bays etc to house the SES equipment. This option would require a staged relocation as funding was made available."
Council will now meet with both the CFA and SES regional Commanders to discuss Council's preferred option for relocation of the SES.
