Council allocated space for a 'Welcome Shop' at Freeway Service Centre

Strathbogie Shire Council has been allocated approximately a 16 sq. metre space in the new Freeway Service Centre in Euroa to use as a facility to dress up a 'Welcome Shop'.
The 'Welcome Shop' will include brochure displays, a detailed map of Victoria depicting "you are here", and an events board. Included in the space will be an area for Euroa groups to advertise on a template that Council will be designing.
Groups will be welcome to advertise their events using the Council template. Council will coordinate this process however they will not be able to recreate the entrance signs to the Shire and no group will be permitted to advertise on the site external to the building.
Councillor Colleen Furlanetto and Councillor Mick Williams said, "Council wants to ensure that it utilizes this facility to attract tourists and visitors into our town but also our shire. Council is very grateful to the Pellicano group for providing this facility to promote the diversity of our wonderful shire."
Unfortunately with all the unprecedented hot weather some of the works have been held up but it is hoped that the Freeway Service Centre will be operational in May this year.
Coles Express has advertised for up to 20 part time positions which close on 8th March 2009. There have also been tenants secured for the food hall. The development will house four food outlets, a convenience store associated with the petrol outlet, a visitor information area and a truck driver's rest area.
An information night will be conducted in the next few months for any tourism related business to obtain details on how to advertise at the Centre.
