Free Home Improvements to cut your Energy and Water Bills
Free Home Improvements are available for farmers who are receiving an Exceptional Circumstance Payment in the Shepparton and Bendigo regions.
This free service is provided through Mission Australia and funded by Sustainability Victoria. It helps to make simple improvements to eligible farmers’ homes that will create savings on their energy and water bills and to reduce water and energy use. Farmers will need to be living within 100kms of Shepparton or Bendigo.
Farmers will need to call 03 5831 5803 as soon as possible to register.
The Task Force will provide eligible farmers with a free energy audit of the home, and complete the appropriate repairs and replacement of equipment at no cost.
Areas that are considered are: Insulation in the ceiling; Weather-proof doors and windows; Fit water and energy-saving shower roses; Fit energy-saving light globes; Fit blinds to windows in the main living area; Fix leaking taps and toilets.
There is funding for approximately 400 homes available across both regions and it is first in first served. Of course, because of the distance, they would prefer several in one area to attend and so it is suggested that farmers ring a few of their neighbours so that if there are about six of them, give or take a couple, the team can come out all at once and do that area.
The one thing the Task Force requests is that farmers provide them with access to read their utility bills both prior to and post the work being done.
Eligibility
Must be a resident in the Bendigo and Shepparton surrounding rural communities; Receiving an Exceptional Circumstance Relief Payment.
Please forward this information to as many farmers as you know so that they can take advantage of this great opportunity to get some repairs done around the place – and not have to do it themselves.
