Major Projects Consultative Committee

Strathbogie Shire Council passed a resolution in its March meeting to establish a Major Projects Consultative Committee. Currently, Council reports to the community on progress of its major projects via the Capital Works Program reports contained within the Business Management System report of the monthly Council Agenda. With minimal community representation at Council's monthly meetings it was decided that Council would form a Consultative Committee to report to the community on the updates of its major projects.
Mayor of Strathbogie Shire Council, Howard Myers said, "Council wishes to engage with appropriate Community Action Groups and involve the community in regular updates and dialogue regarding progress of major Council projects. Therefore, it is proposed to progressively, and as required, implement a Major Projects Consultative Committee for those townships with major projects."

For example, in Euroa the following major projects are being undertaken:
- Euroa Flood Mitigation Scheme
- Progressing Euroa Town Entrances
- Binney Street Pedestrian Crossing
- Walking / Bike Track Strategy
- Euroa Overpass, Northern Town Entrance Enhancement
- Co-establishment of SES and CFA
- Binney Street works
It is proposed that the Major Projects Consultative Committee be made up of:
- Two Councillor representatives
- Two local Community Action Group members
- Project Engineer
- Public Relations Officer
The Committee would meet on an as required basis with the relative Project Engineers to provide an update on progress regarding major projects and that Council's Public Relations Officer would develop a media release from the Committee to the community on progress of major projects.
Council also has major funding applications in for the Nagambie Township Revitalisation Project and it may be appropriate in the near future to also set up a Major Projects Consultative Committee for Nagambie.
