Royal Military College cadets patrol Nagambie

In consultation with the Strathbogie Shire Council, The Royal Military College - Duntroon will be conducting military training within the Nagambie Area during the period 16th to 22nd of May 2009.

The exercise will involve approximately 100 Staff Cadets in their final phase of training to become Officers in the Australian Army. Approximately 50 Support Staff from the College and other Army Units will deliver training to the Cadets. Support Staff will commence moving into the local area from the 15th of May 2009.

The training will consist of a range of activities including liaison with local authorities, protective and clearance operations and support of local Police and non-government organisations. These activities are designed to test the cadets in the leadership and decision making challenges they will face following graduation.

Blank ammunition, and military vehicles will be utilised during the activity in accordance with the relevant civil and military legislation. Importantly, all activities will be scripted and closely controlled to avoid impact on community and business activities.

Members of the public are welcome to interact with the Cadets as they go about their training. This will add an element of realism to the range of tasks being conducted by our Army's future leaders.
