Festival Artistic director Amadeo Perez-Marquez was in attendance and spoke highly of the local films shown in the 90minute program. Congratulations to the musicians who performed and to the 15 local film makers who took part in the event. It is always fantastic to see your local community on the big screen. . If you missed these fantastic short films and would like to watch them please pop into the centre during office hours.

Kool Skools

Violet Town Youth Triumphant Again. On Saturday 14th November the Violet Town Community House Youth Music Program and supporters headed to Melbourne to the 13th Annual Kool Skools Gala Awards Night in the Victory Room at Etihad Stadium. Kool Skools is a youth full music and multimedia project. The Awards night is an Aria Style event where “awards are given as recognition for hard work and excellence achieved. The judging is a long and complex process and is based upon the recordings from each album. The quality and range of music makes it hard to choose just one winner in each category and all nominated, regardless of winning an award should be very proud of their achievement.” said Kool Skools director Paul Higgins.

The night was a fantastic success with 22 acts performing from all over Victoria and Southern NSW. Local teenagers Lauren Sessions, Indi Walton-Guerin, Toby Dawson, Sean Mackrell and Clayton Sessions from the bands Everlasting Crusade and Beas Window closed the evening with a fantastic rendition of their song Falling Walls. The Violet Town Community House program was recognised four times throughout the evening with the Everlasting Crusade and Beas Window winning Best Alternate Rock Track with Falling Walls, Risk of Electric Shock being nominated for Best Metal Track for Sustain, Beas Window being nominated for best Alternate Band and Best Alternate Rock Track with Some People.
