Nagambie Lakes Dragon Boat Festival
Strathbogie Shire Council and Nagambie Lakes Regatta Centre in partnership with Dragon Boats Victoria, are calling for participants in the inaugural 'Nagambie Lakes Dragon Boat Festival' on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2009.
Invite your friends and work colleagues and enter a team in this exhilarating sport. The Festival consists of learning to paddle in a Dragon Boat on the Saturday, in preparation for Sunday’s Regatta, where teams of 10 or 20 people will compete for the coveted trophies.
Sunday’s festivities will also include Buddhist Monks blessing the boats, Lion Dancers and a moving Dragons Abreast Flower Ceremony on the water.
So why not enter your own team today? (Or ask to be put in a team which needs a few more members.) It’s great for team building and morale - and a relaxing way to spend the weekend with family and friends.
Categories include Women’s and Mixed teams. (Mixed teams must have eight females per mixed team of 20) and all participants must be over 12 years of age.
Cost is just $20 per person for the weekend includes expert tuition, insurance, life jacket, paddle and dragon boat plus experienced sweep for both Come n Try day and Regatta and trophies for winning teams.
