Strathbogie Shire 2009/10 Community Grants Program

Council has allocated $200,000 in its Budget for the 2009/10 Financial Year. The $200,000 is made up of previously separate funds that included the Community Grants Program, Community Action Group Program, Tourism / Events Program, Art / Culture Program, Christmas Decorations and the William Pearson Bequest program.
These programs plus an overall increase in the funding of about $45,000 has seen Council commit to ensuring that the community has support in activities that bring about long term sustainable activities, projects and improvements in community assets / liveability.
In deciding which applications should be supported in either funding or DPCD Minor Facilities Grants Council based its decision on:
- Did it meet one of the Goal's set by Council in its 4 Year Council Plan
- What are the financial needs of a particular group
- The ability of a group to self fund (based on financial evidence)
- Whether all documentation required was provided with the groups application
- The availability of funding for that particular category and
- Has the group in the past acquitted and spent their funding within the required time frame?
This year's program was limited to one round closing on Friday 21 August 2009 with all programs to be acquitted by the 31 May 2010. The reason for the May close off date is that there are applications from previous years that have only just been acquitted.
This year's program has been divided into the following categories:
- William Pearson Bequest program
- Community Action Groups Program which includes Christmas Decorations
- Tourism and Events
- Minor Capital
- Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) Minor Facilities (which is for the 2010/11 Financial Year but applications need to be submitted to DPCD by 17 September 2009)
