Composting Workshop in Euroa - You're invited

A free workshop, 'Composting for All, will be held at the Euroa Butter Factory on Sunday 13 September from 1-4pm as part of the Sustainable Communities Program. This event is proudly hosted by Resource GV and Strathbogie Shire Council and you are invited.

At the workshop you will receive first hand knowledge on one of the most effective ways to make a positive impact on your environmental footprint - composting and worm farming. It is nature's way of recycling at home!

Composting has many benefits. It improves garden soil nutrition, helps it retain water, reduces the greenhouse gas methane (which is produced by rotting refuse in tips) and saves landfill space (and your dollars). Approximately one third of waste to landfill is organic waste capable of being composted.

You will learn how to put a valuable resource to good use at a very low cost. Adding compost to your garden encourages strong plant growth and helps the soil retain water. Meanwhile, the worms are working tirelessly turning your fruit and vegetable scraps into a marvellously rich soil conditioner.

Sustainability Kits including a Bio Caddy to compost your organic kitchen materials and ReNew magazines (limited to the first thirty registrations) will be exchanged for recycling commitments by workshop participants. Following the workshop we will be making a special visit to a newly planted waterwise native garden in Euroa where we will see low tech water saving devices in use.
