Managers complete Diploma of Management
Managers at Strathbogie Shire Council recently completed a Diploma of Management.
The Diploma brings theory and work related experience together and was rolled out over a period of six months.
Manager of Human Resources, Gary Abley said, "The benefits of the Diploma of Management were that it offered a practical, contemporary focus on both personal and professional development. The program looks at the real issues occurring in the workplace and assists participants in discovering relevant solutions to these issues."
Managers studied eight components including: Manage Personal Work Priorities and Professional Development; Ensure Team Effectiveness; Facilitate Continuous Improvement; Manage Performance Management Systems; Recruit, Select and Induct Staff; Manage Projects and Manage Risk.
Mayor Howard Myers said that feedback from Managers had been very positive. "Participants informed me that it provided them with a positive development opportunity that enhanced their skills and knowledge. Importantly all of them had implemented a lot of what they had studied into their work. Council would like to congratulate all the participants on successfully completing the Diploma," he said.
Training for the Diploma of Management came out of Council's 2009/2010 budget not the current budget that has just been passed.
