Our Motorcycle Riders Have Their Say
Strathbogie Shire Council today released the results of its recent survey of motorcycle riders' views on safety issues.
Twenty responses were received to the survey, which asked riders to report on issues which affected them and to nominate dangerous locations in the municipality.
"Respondents revealed a number of major concerns relating to other driver behaviour, animal hazards, signage needed, truck traffic and road condition issues," project coordinator, Sarah Seaman said
."Thirty six per cent said that the most common problems they encountered were unexpected gravel or leaf litter on the road while thirty three per cent said that other drivers' behaviour including predominately, lack of understanding of what may be safe for a car is not for a motorcycle."
Goulburn Valley Community Road Safety Council Portfolio representative, Councillor Mick Williams said, "I thank all the riders who took the time to participate in the survey. Their input will ensure we can develop actions that target real problem areas. Council is committed to helping our riders use the roads safely."
