New Sustainable Communities Program workshop schedule and website

The Sustainable Communities Program, a workshop based sustainability program, is excited to announce the workshop schedule for September to November and the launch of the new website.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor, Cr Howard Myers, has praised residents for taking action on climate change by participating in the Sustainable Communities Program. "The feedback on the workshops held to date has been overwhelmingly positive. Participants have been inspired by the practical solutions that experts and residents have offered to help reduce their individual green house gas emissions, potable water consumption and landfill waste, and thoroughly enjoy networking with fellow attendees" he said. Typical comments from residents who have taken part have included "the workshop was fantastic", "great venue and entertaining speakers - congratulations" "a brilliant very much needed program" and "I can save money!"
The first thirty registering to attend a workshop receive free sustainability kits which include a range of simple, easy to use products which help the environment and in many cases save on water and energy bills. As an added bonus all workshop participants have the chance to win a garden mulcher/chipper valued at $1,000 sponsored by the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority.
The new website compliments the program's activities, encouraging residents to get involved and keep up to date on everything relating to our sustainable community. You will find information on the latest workshops, rebates, case studies and resources to help you reduce your environmental impact at home and work. Have your say through the discussion forum and check out the latest news on www.sustainable-communities.com.au
Funding for the program is made possible through the Victoria State Government's Sustainability Fund under the Victorian Local Sustainability Accord and the support of Mitchell and Strathbogie Shires and the program's partners.
The workshop invitation can be obtained at shire customer service centres and libraries, our new website, council websites or by contacting the program Coordinator.
