Strathbogie Shire launches its new Official Visitor Information Centre

Strathbogie Shire Council will launch its new shire-wide Visitor Information Centre on Monday 13 December at Wahring's Restaurant; corner Goulburn Valley Hwy and Moss Rd at 6.30pm.
The new official Visitor Information Centre's main purpose will be to promote tourism attractions, activities and events in Strathbogie Shire and to increase visitation and repeat visitation to the local area.
Tourism portfolio Councillor, Debra Swan said, "The new information centre will be a wonderful asset to the shire and I hope it will build a strong link between local tourism operators, event organizers, Strathbogie Shire Council, Goulburn River Valley Tourism and our many visitors. Tourism is all about visitor experience and I am sure that the professional and friendly service provided by Chris, Suzy and Catherine will create a positive step toward putting our towns, lakes and ranges well and truly on the map of must see destinations in the future."
Services and facilities offered will be:
- Visitor Information Centre - 7 days a week
- Brochures and advertising
- Displays, signage and event banners
- Computer access to accommodation website???
- Public Toilets
Acting CEO, Steve Crawcour said, "The Wahring Restaurant was a natural choice as it already gets up to 1,000 cars a day stopping there and with the opening of the Nagambie Bypass in 2012 it was the perfect time to develop this facility in this location. Interest in our region is growing and it is vital that we showcase all that our municipality has to offer with a first-class Visitor Information Centre."
Owner of Wahring Restaurant Chris Limon and wife Suzy are excited to have the opportunity to establish the Shire's V.I.C and look forward to providing quality service and advice to all visitors. "We recognise the critical importance of visitors to the area and the economic benefits that they bring and we plan to do everything that we can to grow the numbers and length of their stays," he said.
