Farmers' Market Customer Survey

StrathbogieSC150 (6K)

Strathbogie Shire Council under the Victorian Government's - Regional Development Victoria's Farmers' Market Program recently conducted a feasibility study to source producers, identify customers, develop a market plan and assist with the start up of markets throughout the Shire.

Collated feasibility study results found that Euroa presented a real option to establish a farmers' market. Results also found that Avenel (that has the advantage of an already established market) is also willing to expand.

Farmers' Markets in these locations would attract visitors from outside their local area and would be seen as a key activity to increase tourism in the area.

Council is now asking for feedback on what potential customers would like a Farmers' Market in Euroa or Avenel to provide. A survey has been collated and is available at the front counter at Euroa or online at www.strathbogie.vic.gov.au under What's New. The survey asks participants to indicate their preferred location, type of stallholders, products sold and what you would like to see at a farmers' market.

Farmers' Markets have become popular all over Australia, offering a social outlet to catch up with friends as well as purchase quality products to support your community.

The Farmers' Market Program aims to help Victorian Farmers' Markets to grow and operate as economically sustainable community events that bring clean, green, local produce direct from the farmer to the consumer.

Farmers' Markets are predominantly local, fresh food and produce markets that operate regularly at a public location, to sell farm-origin product and associated value-added primary products directly to consumers.
