Health Service mapping exercise in the Shire
The Boards of Management of Euroa Health and Violet Town Bush Nursing Centre welcome the funding by the Department of Health of a Service Mapping Exercise in the Shire of Strathbogie.
The aim of service mapping is to identify gaps and other lack of services and what health services already exists within the Strathbogie Shire; such community health diabetic education, wound management; acute bed based services, dental services, mental health and rural outreach services to name just a few.
It is also hoped that this exercise will lead to better coordination of those services identified and attract additional services so the citizens of the Strathbogie Shire can be provided with appropriate levels of care.
Regardless of the identification of services being delivered into Strathbogie, the Department of Health Expenditure Budgets for 2009-2010 clearly indicate the other local governments within Hume health benefit from direct injections of cash, services and infrastructure in amounts far in excess of anything we receive in the Shire of Strathbogie.
While some of these services may exist it is the belief of local health providers the communities of Strathbogie are still disadvantaged when compared to those of other local government areas.
We are confident that all of the major health providers based in Violet Town, Nagambie, the Shire of Strathbogie will benefit from this exercise.
The Boards of Euroa Health and Violet Town have been meeting and have committed to cooperate in any way they can in order to improve services in their locality; evidence provided by this service mapping will provide them with further information to assist them in their endeavours.
To this end Nagambie Healthcare, Euroa Health, Violet Town Bush Nursing Centre and the Shire of Stathbogie have cooperated in a joint submission to obtain Community Care Packages for the whole of the Shire so that services can be provided as a partnership.
