Violet Town is fortunate
Railways
Two railways pass through Violet Town and both are now standard gauge. Freight trains and passenger trains travel these lines every day.
Anyone travelling to or from Violet Town to Melbourne have the option of a fast rail service or the freeway, both of which pass close to the town.
VLine has recently introduced increased passenger services on the Melbourne to Albury line, with a train, in both directions, in the morning, middle of the day and evening, stopping at Violet Town. Since November 2008 trains have been replaced with a coach service due to the conversion of the broad gauge line to standard gauge and to other major work on the line. It is hoped that the train service will resume in 2011.
For those wishing to travel by train beyond Albury the NSW intercity XPT, also in both directions, can be boarded at nearby Benalla.
Freeway
The VicRoads freeway provides excellent fast travel options for people who are driving to and from Violet Town. Interchanges connect all towns along the freeway and from Violet Town it is a quick trip to Benalla or Euroa. Melbourne is only two hours away.
