Residential Care

Resident focused quality aged care and health service provision is the cornerstone of our services here at Violet Town. What sets Violet Town apart form other providers is that the care is community based enabling our new and current residents to be embraced by the broader community. The result is an excellent standard of care that supports our residents\' transition in to this next phase of their lives. There is a strong sense of community, respect and dignity for our residents.

We offer new residents choice and versatility with four styles of room available at Violet Town including:

  •                        Large Single room
  •                        Regular Single rooms
  •                        Partner rooms with capacity for two residents
  •                        Special care room (dementia specific)

With multiple large and intimate living spaces across each area of our 64-bed facility, the site is designed to provide the required degree of safety and care to the individual, while at the same time protecting privacy.

A nurse call system is located in each room beside the bed and in the ensuite, enabling 24 hour support if required.

The rooms are modern, comfortable and provide a very pleasant living environment, each having its own entrance, lounge, dining room and kitchenette for residents.

The Activities and Lifestyle Program is an important feature of the facility. This program ensures residents personalised are coordinated for residents to assist in the transition into the facility.

Inspections welcome.

Respite Care

Violet Town Campus provides both High Level Respite Care (Nursing Home) and Low Level Respite Care (Hostel).

Respite care is usually booked in advance and a booking fee is paid equal to 25% of the fee for the respite stay or one week's respite fee (whichever is the lesser).

Violet Town Campus also provides emergency respite where the Aged Care Assessment Teams deems it necessary pending availability of a respite bed.

Fees, services and conditions are the same as for a permanent resident (see main body of information), with one major exception. Respite residents DO NOT PAY AN  ACCOMMODATION CHARGE (Nursing Home) OR A BOND (Hostel).

The rent (basic daily fee) is set by the Government and as of December 1998 is set at 85% of the pension and is indexed with pension increases.

Home Care Packages

Through the Strathbogie Consortium Violet Town provides 11 Level 1 and 2 Home Care Packages in the Shire. The Program aims to support frail older people to stay in their own homes as along as possible maintaining their safety and independence, based upon the principles of Consumer Directed Care.

The objectives of the Program are:

  •                        to assist people to remain living at home; and
  •                        to enable consumers to have choice and flexibility in the way that the consumers’ aged care and support is provided at home.

Planned Activity Group/Day Therapy Program

Day Therapy

Our in house Day Therapy Centre provides Day Care to elderly citizens in our community, but also provides activities and socialisation opportunity to our Hostel and Nursing Home residents. Day Therapy participation is open to all Hostel and Nursing Home residents free of charge.

For a healthy life, both mind and body need to be looked after. We take care that the quality of food served and the choice, preparation and presentation of meals is appealing, nourishing, nutritional and in keeping with country cooking.

Special dietary requirements are catered for and the consultation of a dietician is available.
